The PBC Fans Tour will take in it's first WOOLMS race on March 11-12, 2022. This is a brand new state for us, Louisiana. We have heard many good things about "The Rev" racetrack. Apparently, it used to be an asphalt track that was transformed into dirt. The correct way to go right! Singer/songwriter Dylan Scott runs Dirt on the Rev as they call it. This is a 3/8 mile oval with 12 degrees of banking. It sat idle for seven full years before Scott brought it back to life in 2020. They open this season with a Woo Sprint Car show on February 26.
Big news coming out this past week regarding the 2022 season for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Case Construction Equipment replaces Morton Buildings as their title sponsor. WOOLMS is going to embark on a 60 race schedule throughout 16 different states. The season ending purse has been upped from $100k to $125,000. Definitely something to work hard for. They have two Crown Jewels that they are very proud of. The Prairie Dirt Classic will be held on July 29-30 in Fairbury, Illinois. This event pays $50,000 to win and also is offering $50,000 in lap money. The USA Nationals is the pride of the northland. It is held on August 4-6 at Cedar Lake Speedway just on the outskirts of tiny New Richmond, Wisconsin. It also pays $50,000.
Last year, there were 8 drivers that entered all 49 Woo events. Of those, it appears as if Ricky Weiss is the only driver to drop off the tour. There is a really sweet group of new contenders coming on board. Most notable is Kid Rocket, Josh Richards, who picked up Woo National Points titles in 2009, 2010, 2013, and 2016. Also signing up for the full 2022 circuit is Max Blair, Tanner English, Gordy Gundaker, Kyle Hammer, and Gary Dillon. It should be quite the battle. Although Brandon Sheppard appears to have gotten his mojo back claiming 3 consecutive wins in the LOLMDS sanctioned shows at East Bay Raceway Park. Although winning the Woo championship last year, many of us including Mark Richards knew that it was a slump year as they were just off a tick. Missing one single ingredient that kept them from dominating as year's past. They appear to have found that missing link!
This is one of the most anticipated shows on the PBC schedule. New track. New state. Always exciting.
